3 Ways to Use Digital Papers in Pocket Scrapbooking - Sahin Designs - Scrapbook Tips

Hello, Amy Jo here to share some tips for using the whole kit today!  Whenever I download a new kit I always look at the cards first (because 95% of what I create is in pocket pages) but with almost every collection there are pieces in the other bundles that I adore and find I have to use, usually the papers.  Today I’d like to share 3 easy ways to include the digital paper package in your pocket scrapbook using papers from the new L’amour collection.

3 Ways to Use Digital Papers in Pocket Scrapbooking - Sahin Designs - Scrapbook Tips

1. Crop the paper to 3×4 and use without altering

This one is easy!  Open the 12×12 paper in your photo editing software (I use Photoshop) and then set your crop tool to 3×4 inches or 4×6 inches and crop away.  This is a great time to look at the scale of the page.  Would you be best to crop the paper into a small scale pattern by using the whole file, or should you crop only a small section of the paper so that you get a larger scale version of the design.

2. Create space for an embellishment

I’m not saying you can’t put embellishments on a full patterned card like you just made in step one, but personally I like to have some place to ground my embellishment.  This is easy to do, once you have the paper in the size and scale you want, just add some white space (or use a color).  I have two favourite ways of doing this, with an inch of white space at the bottom, or with a diagonal triangle across the card.  Both options give a really neat way of making the paper go with the cards that are in the collection.

3. Create space for journaling

This requires a little more white space than the last step.  There are a few easy ways pull this off and have it look great.  You can create a 3×4 canvas and have the patterned paper only cover the top or bottom inch (essentially the opposite of what we created in the last step).  I also like to create a smaller text box within the pattern, 2×3 on a 3×4 card and have some of the pattern around the edge.  This is a great way to also add your words with a cute font directly on the computer before you print out the card! In the example on the right, I even pulled out a stamp set to add some stamped sentiments directly on the card.
