Have you been making the most use out of your digital scrapbook collections from Sahin Designs? Today I’m sharing how I document one day of my trip with multiple layouts using a single digital collection.
I guess the first question I should ask before moving on is this – Are you a batch tasker? This process works well for me because I employ batch-tasking as a large part of my process. I enjoy grouping all the similar task together. That is to say, I group all the Step 1 for all the projects, then proceed to Step 2 for all the projects, and so on.
For me, the Step 1 to any documenting project is photo selection. For (almost) the entire trip, I flag and edit those photos I want to print in my Lightroom catalogue before exporting them.
Step 2 – I proceed to flag all the journaling cards, paper and elements that I intend to use in the collection.  As I do not scrapbook chronologically, I am able to choose the days I want to document which consist of photos that best match the colors of the collection . For example, in the Jaunt collection, the red, black and sky blue colors strike me the most. I will proceed by going through the flagged photos day by day to decide which of them matches well with the color set of the collection.
Step 3 – Using Photoshop, I add journaling onto the cards. I drag and drop all the elements that I have chosen onto one canvas and print them out. I also print out the photos of the entire day.
Step 4 – The real fun is to discover how many different layouts you can create using the materials you have printed. It was also easier for me in this case because I’m using the 6×8 sized pocket page mini album. I often lay out the photos on the table and then place the corresponding journaling cards. While doing this, I keep in mind the different pocket page configurations I have. Sometimes I place an empty page protector underneath as a guide. Next, I add in filler cards, followed by the elements. I aim to finish using all the materials I printed. If I have any  left overs, it will be kept in a tray for ‘emergency purposes’.
Step 5 – I allow myself some time to add any additional embellishments such as enamel dots, stamping, wood veneer, alpha stickers etc. Then when I am satisfied with the design of my layouts, I will glue down all the elements to the photos/ journaling cards.
Step 6 – This to me, is the most fulfilling part of the entire process. Now that everything is set, I slot the cards/ photos into page protectors and file them into my album in a chronological order. Using the Jaunt collection, I manage to complete SIX 6×8 spreads. I do feel a great sense of achievement! 🙂

Note : It doesn’t bother me that each day might have a different colour scheme in the same album. I like to see each day of the trip individually. If it may bother you, you might want to apply this method and use collections from the same designer , which will give you some cohesiveness throughout the album.
If you are a batch tasker, I encourage you to give this process a try 😃 It’s fun, efficient and you make the most out of the digital kits you purchased. You can even try more complicated process including using of silhouette for your elements, alpha packs, or printing on vellum/transparency to spice up the look of your pages.
I hope you enjoyed today’s sharing . Till next month ~
