Flip up cards are one of the easiest ways to make your mini books and Project Life more interactive. With digital supplies, this task is even easier to accomplish.
This year I am keeping track of what my family and I are reading and am planning to make a mini-book of our reading habits. Flip up cards are a great way to add more content onto a page, or hide some journaling under a filler card.
For this page I used cards from the Bookmark collection and Google Images of my book covers (you could also photograph them if you want). I prepared my images in Photoshop with everything on an 8.5×11 inch canvas, the journal cards stacked.
I cut the cards apart with my paper trimmer, but left the two cards on the left as a 3×8 piece without cutting them apart. Then I folded it in half and adhered the “Read” card on the top (the back of the “One More Page” part of the 3×8).
I love to cut these kinds of flip cards into tags and add some ribbon. Just trim the two corners and add a hole punch to the center of the card.
I hope this inspires you to start using flip up cards in your albums. Let me know how the method works for you!
One small warning; this works well on the front of your page protector and the top row of the back. If you want to flip up a different pocket on the back I would recommend using the thin (1/8″) red line tape to attach the top of the card and then fold it carefully so you can lift it.
