Some memories need their own special album and if you don’t have too much photos or enough time to complete a thick scrapbook album, flip albums are the easiest way to make a special project!
In today’s article Cristina Sales will show you how you can make a flip album at home by using the supplies you have in hand and decorate it with digital scrapbook supplies you print.
1.Prepare the base pages
First, we’ll prepare the base pages of our flip album. For this you’ll need;
- 1 piece 12×30.5cm paper, scored at 11.5×13.5cm
- 1 piece 12x17cm paper, scored at 8.5×10.5cm
- 1 piece 13x17cm paper, scored at 10×11.5cm
- 1 piece 11.5×16.5cm paper
- 2 pieces 16.5×16.5cm paper, scored at 11.5x12cm
- 1 piece 12×6.5cm vellum paper
Once you score your pages, assemble them like an upside down T and glue them together. Cover the middle part with another 11.5×16.5cm paper to hide the excess paper.
2.Painting the backgrounds
If you don’t want plain backgrounds, it’s time to add some interest with paints!
Add some distress ink and water on a piece of acetate sheet. Create watercolor marks on the background paper except for the side pages where you’ll add your photos.
Leave it to dry. And print your digital designs on the background paper once the watercolor is completely dry.
3.Embellishing
Now it’s the fun part!
Print digital embellishments, labels and word art and cut them with a cutting machine or by hand. Decorate your pictures with these designs. And attach them to the flip pages as you desire.
Size of photos Cristina uses;
- One 12×10.5cm
- Two 7x8cm
- One 11.5x12cm
- One 16.5×16.5cm
- One 6.5×13.5cm
- One 10x17cm
Here some closeups of the finished project.
