Hey everyone! Erica here with a few ideas on how to work outside of your pocket pages. Since I moved to a smaller album size (6×8), I’ve had to be creative in how I add in photos, journaling, or memorbilia.
Create a pocket for extra photos
There are times where we just take too many photos, so adding a small (or large) pocket to hold any extra ones allows you to show off extra photos or simply keep everything together. For this pocket I printed off an 8.5 x 11 sheet of patterned paper from the Paradise collection.
I only wanted it to be large enough to hold 3×4 photos and a few random business cards, then I left a tiny bit of room on the side to accommodate for the holes I was going to punch.
Use pull out tabs for hidden items
Even though this one is technically within the pocket, it still allows you to pull something out to view. I just recently got a die cutting machine so I’m really excited to start using it for my projects, but you can also create tabs without one too.
I wanted to put in all of the photos from my Mother’s Day dinner so I created this tab to hide the journaling behind one of the photos.
Add journaling cards in between photo layouts
I am using a lot more 6×8 collages lately to accomodate additional photos so journaling on a separate card is helping me big time. For this layout I typed all of my journaling on a 4×6 card on both sides and placed it in between 2 photo heavy layouts.
Since I’m big into journaling and photography, all of these ideas above are great space saving compromises!
