Printing your digital designs on different styles of paper is a great way to extend your digital stash. Printing on Kraft paper is a fun way to totally change the look of your digital card or paper and leaves you with a great result for your various projects. Today I’d like to share a Traveller’s Notebook that I made for my Thanksgiving journaling this past weekend (Happy Thanksgiving fellow Canadians, my American friends might have to sit on this idea for a couple of weeks!).
First a few tips for printing on Kraft paper. You want to pick a design that isn’t too busy. Simple two-color designs work really well on Kraft paper, while busy multi-color designs get lost really quickly. For my note book I chose 3 black and white papers from the Grad collection, a journal card from the Picnic Day collection and 2 cards from the Gather collection.
When looking for cards and papers to use I tried to look for colors that would show up well on Kraft paper. Red and some blues work well, a vibrant green would also work, but softer colors like yellow get lost to easily, so try to avoid those.
I brought my chosen designs into Photoshop and laid out my notebook (with a few small printing errors when trying to print double sided) and then chose a few embellishments to add to my project.
The great thing about using Kraft paper is that white will really pop off the page. I created a white frame for one photo, and printed a few of the embellishments from the Gather kit on white card stock to cut out and use throughout the project, my favorite was this index card that I had my brother-in-law write down one of his recipes on.
I pulled a few gold paperclips and merely clipped my photos in, I did adhere 2-3 larger photos that float on a page, but I tried to create a casual look by clipping in them in where I could.
Thanks so much for taking the time to look at my little journal of Thanksgiving, hopefully I’ve inspired you to try printing your digital items on Kraft paper for a new look!
Just so lovely! I am a hybrid scrapper and love looking at other ideas/ projects. Kraft paper just adds instant warmth.
Wow looks fabulous. I never think to print on kraft paper but I certainly will now.
Glad I could inspire you to try something new with your downloads!
