Something that brings me joy and encourage me in my own memory keeping journey is to see what other creatives are doing to document their lives. How they tell the stories and what techniques and materials they used to embellish their pages. If you’re like me, welcome to another Story Spotlights! This time, we have Emma Doan, Ingunn Markiewicz, and Kira Ness sharing behind the scenes from their layouts they created for Audacious collection.
I hope these posts will inspire you to tell your own stories, your way. Keep on reading!
Emma Doan on Being Positive
When I saw this kit, I knew I would document my recent trip to Laguna Beach, California. It was my first trip since the pandemic started. Many things have been changed through this time. As a person who loves to go out and travel around, it was not easy for me to stay at home for such a long time. My family is living at another country where the Covid is getting worse days after days so there’re so much bad feelings inside me.
This layout is not only about a trip which gave me some “good vibes”, some “vitamin sea” but also a self affirmation. I used several word arts as a reminder for myself to only look on the bright side and keep the positive thoughts. I also added some sea creatures elements as they are so cute and make me smile when looking that them.
Ingunn Markiewicz on Looking Back to Summer Days
I love how Elif Sahin Designs combines emotional themes with beautiful illustrations in her collections! Normally I would use Audacious on a page about mountain running, but I am still trying to get off the struggle bus and didn’t have it in me to be all rah-rah about myself.
Luckily, the illustrations took me right back to this summer when the girls explored the marine life in Norway (Nora now wants to be a marine biologist instead of a geologist, which means I’ve had to move on from rock puns to sea puns 😁) and were perfect for a spread to kick off #ingunnsnorway21album instead. 🦀
Kira Ness on Playing When Crafting
Whenever I see a new collection, I love to peek the elements first to see if anything sparks a story. My youngest son is obsessed with sea animals, so this collection could’ve been used on a plethora of pages about him. But instead, I decided to document my oldest son’s choice of attire when we visited Sea World for his younger brother’s birthday. From there, I played off the nautical theme by bringing in some elements from my stash that provide a ton of texture, including burlap and twine, to really bring this hybrid layout to life!
